Thank you to everyone in the U.S., the U.K. and Canada who worked so hard to get their demo video clips submitted for the Mexico T.V. commercial.
You all did a fantastic job and deserve proper recognition. Special thanks goes to Rob Turman and his son Chase and daughter Hope for their continued dedication to the sport. Also a special thanks to Nick and Sarah-Beth for their committment and willingness to risk life and limb. We hope your wounds heal quickly.
I heard back from ADN Films late last night and they have made their selection… drum roll, please…
Scott Schneider – Cananda Pro Team
Mad Mike – Canada Pro Team
Mathew Couture – Canada Pro Team
Jeremy Bresciani – Dirtsurfer Canada Managing Partner
They also changed the dates to July 4th and 5th for the shoot. From this point on I am out of contact with the production as Jeremy picks it up from here. I know that they will do a fantastic job.
ADN has promised me a copy of the finished commercial when it’s ready. I’ll post it on here when I get it. In the meantime, here are shots of the actual storyboard that the company is using to map out the action and camera angles.
A number of the shots require a Dirtsurfer rider to also handle the camera. I tried this using my own very small but expensive DVD camera and it’s harder than it looks. Riding off-road AND shooting good video isn’t going to be easy. I can’t wait to see the results, though. It should look fantastic.
Since much of this effort was last minute and a rush job, I propose that we assemble a video archive of our best riders doing their best stunts and post the rider’s hourly “for hire” pay rate for companies who want to hire riders to perform in future commercials. This way, when we get contacted by a film company we can send them to the video archive and they can see what they want and make their selection from there. If we do this, the videos will all look more professional and we’ll have time to plan out what we do in the video.
Let me know if you would like to be included in this
“Dirtsurfer For Hire” video archive. Also let me now if you would be interested in being included as a Media / News contact for the sport so that local news agencies can contact you for a story and to appear on t.v. demonstrating the sport. To be included, send me your contact information and links to your best video clips. You can e-mail me at brian@dirtsurfer.com

I would like to note here that I was not chosen as a Pro Rider or stunt double in this commercial, so will not, and did not intend to, take a position from a Pro Rider. They chose three Pro Riders and invited me as a cameraman as they need someone to ride alongside the Pros and shoot footage at the same time. I was lucky enough to live in the same city as two of their Pro Rider choices and able to send them sample footage of riding alongside MAD MIKE and Scott Schneider within the short deadline as we’ve done a lot of this over the past 5 years. I expect this commercial to lead to more opportunities and think the selection process has shown us how important it is to have footage, bios and photo galleries at the ready. I think Brian’s idea of creating a rider for hire page is excellent and encourage everyone to participate in this!
Cheers!
